The Band were facing closure. A meeting
was held on 5th October to discuss whether the Band could be saved.
The ten remaining members, with the support of the Town Council,
decided to form Saltash Town Band Ensemble, with a view to
concentrating on good quality music making and in the hope that the
Band can grow again in the future. Thanks are extended to our
outgoing Musical Director Mr Bill Leith for all his efforts over the
last 12 months. We wish him well with his future music making
with Callington Town Band. October 2007 |

The Band has just been contacted by the BBC
asking if they can play "Siberian Light", composed by David Wood and
featured on the Band's CD "Tamar Crossings" on their "DIY SOS"
programme - and wait with baited breath to find out when. Well
done David - we're all very proud of you. August 2007 |

It was with very great sadness that the Band
learned of the death of our former Musical Director, Mr John
Forrest. John was a great friend to the whole Band, keeping in
touch and helping out whenever he could. Our thoughts go to
his wife, Joan and family. John will be very much missed by a
very wide Banding Community in the South West, as well as all his
friends in Saltash. There was a memorial service for John at the Tamar Valley Methodist Church, on Tuesday, 25 July 2006 for family and friends which was very well attended, where we heard some lovely stories which brought both laughter and tears. God bless you John. July 2006 |

It was with sadness that the Band said goodbye to
both Bob Julian (MD) and Bernie Ryan. Bernie has been with the
Band for 25 years and we wish him well in his retirement.
There will always be a seat ready and waiting for him if he decides
retirement really is not for him. We wish Bob all the very best in both his career and music. We will miss him and thank him from the bottom of our hearts for all the hard work he has put into the Band in some quite difficult, sad and traumatic times over the last couple of years. June 2006 |

Andy Knight and Christina Fulcher, outgoing
Chairman and Secretary, both stepped down from the Committee at the
AGM due to ill-health and the need to re-charge their batteries.
The Band thanked them both for their hard work over recent years.
Special thanks was also given to Mrs Averil Edgeler, who continues
as Treasurer for the 28th year. April 2006 |

Many thanks to Paul Fulcher for producing our

Saltash Town Band and its many friends and
guests of the evening had a superb 30th Birthday Celebration Concert
on Friday, 29th July 2005. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful evening of
entertainment, which saw the Town Band, Training and Youth Bands
performing, with Special Guest, Mr John Honywill, on Piano. We also
welcomed Mr David Dobson, who conducted "Celtic Song", composed by
his very talented and well known son, Simon Dobson. Mr Ernie
Reynolds acted as Compere for the evening, and had everyone in
stitches!
Look out in the press for photographs of our Bass Player, Andrew Knight, who performed "Bass in the Ballroom" - there's not many young teenagers that would have the bottle to dress up in an evening gown, high heels, pearls and a wig - good on you!!!! He was an absolute star. This was followed the next evening by a Barbecue (and yet another Raffle) at the Cecil Arms, Saltash. Everyone was very merry and at the same time were we able to raise more pennies for our NEW UNIFORM APPEAL. July 2005 |

Any donations would be very gratefully received. All cashback earned from our webshop will be put towards the new uniforms. Also, look out for lots of Social Events, where we can really enjoy ourselves and raise funds for the Appeal at the same time. Everyone welcome to attend. In fact, the more the merrier! April 2005 |

The Sue Hooper Foundation has also been very generous to our Youth Band, with helping towards the purchase of ties, banners, and starting off the NEW UNIFORM APPEAL. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! |
